Is the nucleus of the urban life of Arequipa. It’s located in the central position of the original damero designed by the Spanish conquerors, famous by the symmetric harmony architecture of its double arches that form an imposing set next to the Cathedral building.

Characterized by its ancient, narrow streets, ancient houses made also highlighted in ashlar, decorated on the outside or facade with pots of geraniums and various flowers, where the story was founded the city of Arequipa.

It is a colonial monument which is more than four hundred years old; unique in the world that contains a true city within its walls.
It was founded in 1579 and represents the testimony of architecture and urban life in Arequipa in its transit from the XVI to XVII centuries and, for several centuries; it has preserved an authentic part of the city at that time.
 

It is a Franciscan convent founded in 1648. It has four cloisters and eleven rooms. Additionally, it has two pre-Columbian art rooms, two rooms related to the Amazon and a room of religious art. It also has an art gallery with paintings of the Cusco and Arequipa influence and a valuable library which houses more than 20 000 books.
